I’ve decided there is no statute of limitations on a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. In fact, I did it just today. I changed my mind about something almost three years after the fact.
True story. My 2005 Mother’s Day gift arrived via delivery in a very small box from somewhere in Asia. I (correctly) assumed it was an iPod and debated how best to tell hubby I didn’t want it. Seriously. When do I have time to sit and listen to music in solitude?! Um, thinking about it… thinking……. still thinking…… yah, NEVER.
So, I delicately broached the subject of “If you were thinking I’d like an iPod for Mother’s Day – I’m sorry, but I really wouldn’t.” Didn’t go over so well… hubby’s feelings were a little hurt. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as easy as returning the thing because he’d taken advantage of Apple’s free sure-fire way to ensure you can’t return something engraving option. Long story short, hubby got himself a new iPod, engraved with “Always and Forever” on the back. (snort!)
Well, today I changed my mind. I thought, you know, I would really enjoy an iPod on our trip to Mexico. What else does a girl do for eight days poolside?? So I sweetly asked for an iPod today, and gracious as he is, my man picked one up for me.
Just to make myself feel better about it, I took the old one – and he is now sporting the latest and greatest model.
It’s a win/win/win, right? I get an iPod, he finally gets the satisfaction of giving it to me – AND he gets a brand new one himself. Ya’ gotta’ love it when a plan comes together…. in this case, it took me three years to cooperate.
Off to Mexico tomorrow. Going to try to post just for kicks. Check back soon.
