Tattooed Dreams

by Soliloquy on April 1, 2008

Can someone interpret this dream for me?

I wanted a tattoo…. or so I thought. But when I got there (hubby took me – you know, because of all his experience with tattoos.  Not kidding, actually.), I just couldn’t bring myself to decide for sure. I was concerned about the pain.

I asked for a tour of the “factory”. (Apparently, there’s a process you go through to get a tattoo?) I needed to be sure of what I was getting myself into.

I asked questions like, “Can you put the pain into comparison with something I can relate to? Like labor? How would you rate the pain compared to labor?”

The sales person was aggravated with me. (I might liken them to a time share rep.) However, it was the accounting people who were able to most adequately answer my labor pain related line of questioning…… apparently tattoo artists themselves don’t procreate???

Hubby offered me a drink, but I knew I couldn’t get a tattoo had I been drinking. He assured me that if I made the decision sober, I could start drinking, if I thought it would relax me. I asked if I could be sedated. Or have a topical anesthesia. Except that topical anesthesia had an effect on the actual size of the tattoo. (Have you ever written on a rubber band and then stretched it?)

Finally, it came down to selecting an image. Rather than pictures, they had physical props. The only thing I could think made any sense to choose was a margarita on the inside of my ankle. I requested it “on the rocks – no salt”.

As for size?

“As big as you can make it, thank you.”

Anyone?? I’d LOVE to know what it means.
