Help You Help Me

by Soliloquy on May 6, 2008

You know that saying, “Help me help you”?

Switching that up a bit this week, because let’s face it – who of you has a husband who doesn’t need a little “help” helping you?

I have a birthday this week.  37. Which rounds to 40, my home-schooled son helpfully pointed out.

WHO taught him that?!

Yah. Anyway. It rounds to 40. So what?!  I’m looking forward to my forties.

What???  I am!

After reading Musings of a Housewife’s post a few weeks ago about this brilliant new website, I registered for Get In Her Head.  You know – so I wouldn’t have to shop for myself again this year to “help” my husband out.

I entered all the information, and started my “Wish List”, which is kind of a joke, because really?  If I want something, I pretty much just go get it.  I’m kind of a brat problem that way.

Of course, I got a call immediately from my man.

Him: “Hey babe, did you sign me up for something? Get In Her Head?”

Me: “Yah – isn’t it great?  Now you’ll know what to get me for my birthday and Mother’s Day this year.  Without having to ask or guess.”

Him: “Hmm.  Well, it’s not really your head I want to get into.” *wink, wink*

Me: (trying to keep it together, because I want him to use the website), “Darlin’, get in my head and I’m pretty sure it will take you wherever else you want to go.”

So we’ll see how this goes.  My hopes aren’t high.  I picked up my … ahem, “end-of-the-year Teacher Gift” last week for him when I had a 20% off coupon and he was out of town. (It’s crying out to me from the closet.)

And I just got home from picking up a cutesy little outfit to wear on Friday.  He, obviously, couldn’t do that right alone.

That only leaves the Aveda perfume on my list, which I know he picked up last night.  Too bad too, because I just got a coupon in the mail for a free one….. because it’s my birthday, and all.

So far this “Get In Her Head” thing isn’t really working out for him……

Unless I add more to my list.

It may not be working out too well for him but it seems to be doin’ wonders for you. And it is, after all, *your* birthday right? I see no harm in adding more items to your list…

this has nothing to do with your post, but you know that we have the same taste in music, right? Because I heart escape and put your records on? Its the FIRST song I sing when we play American Idol on the PS2… and the others rock too… i’ve been listening all morning!

Soliloquy –

Based on this post, I am a little concerned that your readers might think I am incapable of coming up with a clever birthday/Mother’s Day gift on my own.

I will take that challenge.

Your readers ought to stay tuned for a full report on Saturday morning…on whether or not I was able to “get into YOUR head” without the assistance of some website that was clearly created by a woman who has a husband incapable of “getting into HER head.”

Intrigued, Soliloquy? You should be.

Well, Happy birthday a few days early :) I see you are in trouble with your Spin Doctor — I can’t wait to see what he does!!

My hubby keeps asking me what I want for my birthday. I told him I’m already getting my birthday present by going to She Speaks in June. I don’t want him spending money on anything else — oh, that and I’m a brat — I mean problem like you :D If I want something, I go ahead and get it!

I do hope you have a wonderful weekend especially after your tiring one last weekend!

Dr. -

I was going for funny, but it would seem I’m on to something.

If it pays off, you may not be getting much credit from me ever again.

Bwah hah hah hah!

Is Fussy reading? Does this qualify as the “Gentle Art of Ruling One’s Husband”?
