On Charges of Neglect: Guilty

by Soliloquy on June 12, 2008

I have blogged ONCE since Saturday night.

That’s Saturday night as in five days ago.

Once.

Everything (and I use that word very loosely) except the Um? post was written on Saturday and scheduled to post though-out the week.

May I ask how it is possible that school is out and life is even crazier?!

Miss Korea left on Wednesday, but this past week has seen:

  • 5 nights of company
  • 4 mornings of lacrosse camp
  • 3 nights of VBS
  • 2 nights with Spin gone in NY
  • and a partridge in a pear tree

Not to mention the “shock and awe” Father’s Day gift I’ve been planning and working on all week. Spin is reading, though – so that’s all I have to say about that.

I have three important phone calls to make, but have not had a single, solitary block of private time in which to schedule them…. (sigh)

Posts I’m working on:

  • Can I Please Just Have My Life (and My Credit Card) Back?
  • And So It Begins
  • The Irony of Sleeping “Alone”
  • “Die Happy” Recipes
  • Retirement. It Isn’t Just For Old Folks Anymore.

I seriously just cleared out my Feed Reader of 358 posts. And left comments for a gazillion of you. But I cannot do it all. We have more company coming tomorrow for the weekend, so the writing just has to take the back seat….

However, I am reading all my favorite blogs regularly – and that has helped me feel somewhat connected. Just wanted you all to know that I’m never not “here” without good reason!

I love y’all way too much to intentionally neglect you.

After the shock and awe birthday gift Spin pulled together I can’t wait to hear about this Father’s Day gig you’re cooking up.

Good luck with the five nights of company thing. I can’t really handle peeps in my house for more than three.

Summer has a way of doing this to us, doesn’t it? Last week it was: parents in town, to vegas, bowl, home from vegas, 2 major graduation events for the girl, gifts for the teachers, class parties.

Today I played hooky and took the boys to the theme park.

I couldn’t bear starting summer without something fun. Now I can say “But didn’t I take you to XXXXXX on the last day of school?!”

I know… I’m up early this morning b/c I can’t neglect my kids by turning this laptop on in their presence today. I actually heard myself say, “go away, mommy’s not playing” yesterday in favor of blogging.

Um, ya… we understand!

I noticed that too!! Now that school is out, I feel WAY busier! I think it’s because the kids are now needing constant entertaining, and all my “free” time to run errands and do my thing is gone! Glad I’m not the only one.

Every thing seems to go to warp speed when school is out. Good luck on the company. Three days is about my limit. Looking forward to more posts.

Summer is much crazier than when the kids are in school. At least you have the presence of mind to pre-schedule posts! I am mighty impressed. I can barely find the time to do one post, let alone a whole slew of ‘em. Take care of what you have to take care of. We’ll still be here when things settle down, waiting to hear all about it! :)

Aren’t you the one that taught me about balance in life???

Don’t forget that your blog time is something you do for you, and (once all family/super sleuths) you need to take time for just you. I think I learned that from you as well…..

Obviously, we are all still here and will love you – even if you don’t post as often as you like. (Plus, we know if you are busy, it will probably just make really good reading for us when you come back, so really, we are all just selfish!)

Girl you INSPIRED me with your self imposed hiatus and keeping your priorities straight. Don’t lead me astray now! Go. Be with real live people. Enjoy. Live in the real world… We’ll be here. Promise!

Cant wait to hear what Spin has coming to him! Kip is getting goggles. Yes – swimming goggles! He loves them though. A little bit of an obsession I think.

I can so relate. I have kept this post in my reader for days waiting for a time to come over and comment. Now that I’m here, I have nothing clever to say…
