Redefining Nasty

by Soliloquy on June 9, 2008

There are things I absolutely love about living in Atlanta, such as mild “winters” – wearing sandals in March – and a reasonable cost of living.

But can I just say how hot and humid it gets here? It’s literally too hot to go out sometimes – just as it’s literally too cold in Minnesota to go out at times.

We went to the pool on Saturday – and it was one of those too hot days to be outside. It was certainly hot enough to get into the water (something I try to avoid at all costs) – so I braced myself for a “dip” into the Evil-that-is-our-subdivision-pool.

May I redefine the word NASTY for you? Slimy, cloudy water with all manner of debris floating in it. AND – I swear to you that I crossed through someone’s stringy phlegm in my haste to get back OUT as quickly as I entered.

I’m going on the record NOW to say that if I wind up unexpectedly pregnant, I think we can blame the neighborhood pool.

I’m not even kidding. It’s that gross.

I came home and soaped up twice in the shower – and still felt violated dirty.

My children don’t even want to go back.  Oh, what I wouldn’t give for my own temperature-controlled pool in the backyard. It would just solve so many problems.

In an attempt to lower my 289% blabbering tongue, that’s all I have to say about that.

That is just disgusting! You’d like to think that your HOA fees are doing….something????

Pools are great in your yard – if you want a part time job.

Ewwwwwwwww! You described that, unfortunately, very well!

It’s hard to feel bad for you, though, through the *jealousy* of the great weather you’re having! I can’t believe it’s still raining here! I might just have to move to your neck of the woods!

Love reading your blog. Keep it up!

Yuck. We go to an indoor pool (when we go) that will knock you down with the smell of chlorine when you enter. Now that’s gotta be killing some stuff :D

Yuk and Double yuk. I know it isn’t even close but what about one of the above ground pools with the air ring for the back yard. That might help. Also think Atlanta is hot, try Southeast Texas right now. I swear it feels like 280*. It’s so hot we fried and egg on our drive way. Nice huh?

We were in Atlanta last week and yes it was hot, just as hot in Louisiana though. We haven’t had rain in ten days. My plants are scorched from us being gone. Maybe just run through the sprinkler next time.

Just two weeks until we can find out how the test turns out…

UGH! That is soooo gross. There are some days around here where it is too hot to swim. I never understood that concept until moving to the south.

We were in ATL then, and I AGREE it was too hot to move. It was SERIOUSLY hotter there than in Jamaica, from where we had just returned! Sorry to be commenting all these months later, but I’m a newcomer and feel the need to “catch up”! LOVE YA!
