Laundry, that is. Spin left some unfinished wash behind today…. not that he asked me to attempt it, but it’s a well-known fact that I take being his helpmate quite seriously. Besides, it might be a good “card to play” next time I’m in trouble for something.

I think this is the right order…

This

goes in this…

so this

can go in that

which should leave me with this

ready and waiting for (gasp) all of that?!

That’s a lot of steps, y’all. Do you know how much can happen to distract me in between all those individual tasks? And do you know how much easier it is for me to forget than it is for me to remember? So much opportunity for failure. (moan) The angst……….. the stress…. the shame…..

And what, I ask, am I now supposed to do with this?!

What you do, is thank God for every time you don’t have to do it! :)

Whenever I drive in rush hour (which is rare to never, thank you very much), I call Hero and thank him for making sure that we don’t have to do it on a daily basis.
It works wonders!! (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Laundry is my Achilles Heel. I can’t stand it. I will wash it no problem. It’s the folding and putting away that get me. The cable guy was here this morning (first thing, of course) and I didn’t have time to squirrel away all my piles. I was so embarrassed. Maybe that could be a meme: Show Your Piles. I’m sure someone out there has bigger piles than me and that would make me feel better. ;^)

I don’t like doing laundry…but, I reserve all my laundry for 1 day in hopes that I don’t have to do it again for another week!

At the risk of offending every one of Soliloquy’s readers (i.e., MY views are MY views and not HER views…although, I may pay for MY views when I get home)…I just don’t get why laundry is that hard to do. It just isn’t that big a deal…it’s gotta get done, so just “git ‘r dun.”

In fact, you don’t even do laundry…the machines do it. You just have to keep the process moving. And, since you aren’t really doing the laundry, you can accomplish many other things while the machines are doing it for you. For instance, while you have one load in the dryer and the other in the washer, you can be cutting the grass…or trimming bushes…or baking cookies…or…um…”paying attention” to the man in your life.

Just think of all you could be doing while the laundry is being done by machines!

I am seriously baffled by anyone who finds “keeping the process moving” to be a challenge. It is another one of life’s grand mysteries, I suppose.

Darling…as for OUR laundry…I’ll take care of it when I get home. I release you from any ounce of stress or shame you might be feeling.

Somehow Laundry is both the bain of my existance and my greatest joy. I hate it- all of it and especially the putting the clean stuff away. Not to mention the ironing- I seem to iron everything….seems neater to me. But when it is all done- or nearly all done I feel such an overwhelming sense of JOY. I feel like I have earned my SAHM status to the fullest. I look around- do a little happy dance and go on to empty the dishes….now that is something I hate even more!

Great post

I hate the folding and the sorting and the figuring out whose is whose when all is said and done. The keeping it going by the machines is the easi(er) part.

Okay, just my 2 cents here, but after reading Spin’s comment and seeing your birthday present and now finding out that he does the laundry…let’s just say he’s a keeper. M’kay?

Not that my guy is anything to shake a stick at. He’s pretty amazing too. Of course, if he did laundry, well, the Earth might go spinning off of its axis or something. :)

Gentle Art of Ruling Your Husband…. phhht! I could have written the manual, girls….

Did you see how I did that? All I really did was move the dry clothes to the laundry basket, and the wet clothes to the dryer.

Then I took a bunch of pictures and blogged it. Voila! Multi-tasking!

Oh, I kid.

On a serious note, I DO know how fortunate I am – but it’s great to be reminded. Sometimes I tend to take my “normal” for granted.

All that said, even if I didn’t honestly and truly SUCK at laundry, Spin would probably do it anyway. His father does all the household laundry – and it was just the way he was raised.

So, here’s a collective toast to the in-laws…. and if you ever want to be a blessing to your future daughters-in-law (and who of us won’t need the extra brownie points?) start training your BOYS now to do the laundry!

Your laundry room looks just like mine, never ending. I do have to admit that last week Hubs left work early and came home and did all 7 loads of laundry. Washed, dried, folded, and put away. I didn’t even ask him to. I couldn’t thank him enough.

Y’all are too easily impressed if sorted dirty laundry strikes you as “organized”.

Just keepin’ it real….. you are giving me credit that is undeserved!

Laundry. It is my Everest. The mountain I can only wish one day to summit…

I hear ya on this one. I get distracted constantly while doing laundry, which inevitably makes more work because the load that I left in the washer for two days has to be rewashed so it doesn’t smell like ick.

But, kudos to Spin and his offer to handle it all. I’d be all over that offer! :)
