I give up. I give in. MERCY!
Someone ask me where I was this afternoon?
The damned veterinarian’s office with another damned emergency with my damned dogs!
Would I lie to you, dear reader??
I assure you. I would not.
Our backyard backs up to a wooded lot. Every once in a while, the neighbors dog from behind us gets loose and come to aggravate our dogs. Nina and I heard them freaking out and naturally went outside to see what the commotion was about. They were really going at it – racing each other up and down the fence line.
Until it wasn’t excitement anymore. It was panic. And pain.
The fence line is actually in something of a gully. We have taken extreme measures to keep the girls secured inside the yard and there is pine straw piled up along the bottom of the fence. Well, as they were racing back and forth in the pinestraw, they stirred up a bee’s nest. I heard yelping and crying and barking. I could SEE bees all over Paisley, who happens to be allergic to bee stings.
I know this because she has gone into shock before after being stung by a wasp and even lost control of her bowels. Another time, her face swelled up from a sting. (Ever seen Hitch?)
I threw her in the car and RACED to the vet. They were waiting with an injection of Benadryl. They then proceeded to pull stingers out from all over her torso…. and then kept her for observation.
Ka-ching!
I am the proud owner of a newly appointed INDOOR dog.
Belle was stung a few times. Nina even took one in the arm! Now everyone is doped up on Benadryl and nursing welts.
I know.
I’m still sick. My throat is raw, my voice is shot, my lungs are tight and burning (I’ve got my Demi on except that this time I do feel as bad as I sound) and I’m on day FOUR of a low-grade fever. I’m telling you what – I can handle not feeling great – but any feverish state takes me down a notch. Or six.
And then I had to have my house ready for another showing this morning!!!!!
MISERY, I tell you.
Can I please just have a tiny break from this insanity?
Not yet???
Stink started school this week. He goes two days and is home three days with assignments to complete. FIVE HOURS of homework yesterday. THREE of them were just handwriting, which for this boy is LA. BOR. I. OUS. Brutal. But we were told to expect brutal.
Yippee. I can’t wait for another fun-filled homework day tomorrow!
Speaking of tomorrow….. I have my pre-op appt. in the morning. I’m only dreading it for the drive deep into the heart of east Atlanta. I can’t believe “C”-Day is only a week away! I’m excited. Not nervous at all and actually ready for a good excuse to stay in bed and be babied for a few days.
I’m done here. I just needed to interrupt this break to document that it is indeed NECESSARY. (Do ya’ think?!)
**Updated: I would like to tell you how I started this day. Cleaning up dog puke from my carpet. Want to know how I just ended it? Cleaning up dog diarrhea from even more carpet. Not even kidding. (I’m blaming Holly for her Holy Crap comment below. She jinxed me!) Seriously, I think Spree is in so much pain, she just couldn’t help herself. Can this GET any worse?? I ask you.*******

Bless your heart. You are certainly dealing with more than your fair share. I fear that the damn dogs may be your demise (emotionally and financially). Get some rest so that homework day is as painless as possible. I hope that the new school turns out to be all you want and need it to be.

Please, understand that I am very sorry for all that those dogs are taking you through right now. But I am very glad that they are with you, and not me!
Get well so your surgery goes off without any problems.

Holy crap girl. Those dogs are going to be the death of you.
That is so funny that Stink is on the same schedule as Ryan. He starts on Monday and so Tuesday will be our first big homeschool day…I am so not ready mentally, physically, emotionally…..
Good luck tomorrow. Will be thinking of you!

Oh no mam! You cannot be scared- because there is nothing to be scared of!
I would NEVER read an Anne Rice book and I hate vampires-
It is a teenage love story! No blood or gore! Promise!
You can find the series in the tween section of the bookstores because it is such a “clean” book- no cussin, luvin, or sex!
I am dying for you to read it! GO read LULA at LULAVILLE.blogspot.com
she got me hooked!

Damn dogs, don’t they know you are sick! I hate that all of this is happening to you at once. I know when it rains it freakin’ pours bucket of crap! I hope the rest of the week is a great one. Go get a pedicure and a drink a rita. You sound like you could use both!

Wow. And I thought I had it a little crazy around here. If I believed in curses I’d say your dogs were prime candidates. Hopefully now that at least one of them is inside (permanently?) that might divide the danger quotient…

Don’t you know you’re not supposed to ask that question, “Can it get any worse?” You may have just jinxed yourself. Sorry about all the dog dramas lately, but just think, next week you’ll have two new cutie pies to take care of (I’m speaking of your new left and right boobs.). Hope you feel better soon!

I get it now! “C”. At first I thought you were going to have a C-section (can you tell I’m a new reader?) Love it. Only wish I were doing it.
I miss Atlanta, not really East Atlanta that much though. I spent my time in Decatur.

OH MY! I am thinkin’ of ya Girl! So sorry for your woes. Have you watched any Olympics while you are feeling puny? I’d use it as an excuse to stay put in front of the Boob Tube as much as possible!
I am so hoping your load will get a little less burdened soon!

Oh, no! You didn’t.
Never, ever as the question ‘can it get any worse?’ That’s like throwing out a double dog dare for fate/God/karma to show you that it can, indeed, get worse.
I hope they weren’t listening.

You do deserve some mercy.
I think I caught your virus too – I spent the last 2 days at home b/c I too was running a low-grade fever and I totally feel that pain.
As for the dogs – dAMN, girl, is right.
