I woke up this morning and thought to myself, “Ooh – I can’t wait to put the tree up this weekend.”
Of course that thought was immediately followed by this one, “Oh wait. It’s already up!”
Dang it.
Spin is taking this thing pretty seriously, but honestly – the Christmas thing is getting old.
BAH!
But still – GIFTS!!
Day #7 – Vanity had Ghirardhelli Christmas chocolates and Christmas music waiting for me upon my arrival at her place for the weekend. Compliments of Spin.
Day #8 – The Purpose Driven Christmas book and a collection of Christmas stories book.
Day #9 – See below (This one was awesome!!)
Day #10 – Michael W. Smith’s new Christmas cd. Very orchestral. Still not quite in the mood to listen though. Even WITH a freakin’ tree in my house.
Day #11 – Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses
(Is anyone else seeing the Target/ Christian bookstore theme here?)
If I get one more Christmas book or cd, I’m going to start re-gifting them.
Have I mentioned that I’m very nearly over Christmas already?!
HUMBUG!
(The chocolate I will keep. I can overlook the wrapping for the sake of, you know, the chocolate.)
((Merry Christmas to ME!))
Sunday’s gift was pretty awesome though. Not as awesome as my infiltrated Anne Taintor-ish button from Day 6. Nothing will top that. (See? I even proudly posted it on my side bar!)
But Day #9 came close. One of my most favorite things to do is give. Gifts are my love language – and as much as I like getting them, I mostly love giving them. So, Spin gave me something to give away. I’m praying about how to gift it….. and honestly -if I didn’t love that dang button so much, this would be the most meaningful gift of all.
Three days to go. Part of me is ready for this to be over to concede. Do I sound like an ungrateful brat?? Well, I’m not! You’ll be glad to know that the other part of me has loved seeing Spin rise to the occasion and the the grace with which he has borne the brunt of all this mocking fun has endeared me to him all the more – if that were possible.
The pure unadulterated FUN we’ve had bantering back and forth *ahem* has made it easy to be sure Spin is well-loved in return. Who knew how great this blog would be for our marriage??
Although I’m ready to give the poor guy a break and let him off the hook, even if I did concede, he’d never accept. If I know one thing about my man, it’s that he’s not a quitter.
(Which is good because at the very least, I know he’s stuck with me he’ll never leave me.)
Guess I’ll have to just suck it up and accept the gifts.
Oh well.

This little contest you’ve got going on is helping me smile during the midst of a very tough week. Thank you. Although I thank Spin more.

I’m giving him credit for not quitting; some people would have by now.
Congrats, Spin, for sticking it out.
And, to you too, Soliloquy for “putting up with” his gifts. You don’t sound ungrateful. It’s obvious that it’s playful banter. And, at the very least, it’s entertaining.
