**** This post ran for about 15 minutes yesterday morning before I realized Spin’s infiltrated post had been “buried” by my scheduled post. The ONE WEEK I have more bloggy fodder than I know what to do with and he sneaks one in on me.
Well, hey – at least we’re not talking about a pregnancy.
Happy Friday! We are on our way down to Vanity and FlyBoy’s for the weekend, so I won’t be posting again until Monday.*****
___________
INCAPACITY
Not that I know much about doing a half-*ssed job at anything, but I can understand Spin’s misconstrued notion last week.
My mother always charges my father with intentionally doing a marginal job at any given task, so as not to be asked to do it again. Ever.
Whether it’s legitimate or not, I do not share the same trait as my father.
But I am challenged in certain areas.
Areas such as, oh say…… laundry.
As my loyal readers are aware, Spin does the laundry in our house.
And yes, for all you Spin-loving readers, yes already, I understand and fully appreciate the full scope of what it means that he does laundry.
Especially in light of my own incapacity to see a load of laundry from start to finish all by myself.
But there’s something you need to understand, dear reader. My incapacity has been enabled.
Spin’s father did – DOES – all the laundry. Spin was raised to do the same. This is easy for Spin because he is a Multi-tasking MASTER.
Me? Not so much.
Laundry simply doesn’t occur to me.
(Why would it? I never run out of clean clothes!)
I have a point to make. I’m getting there.
When Spin “took the week off from laundry last week” (post-marathon), I did my very best to pick up the slack. Without being asked, I might add.
It’s true. He will openly attest to the fact.
Problem is – I tend to forget things I’ve started.
So when I tell you that a load of grays/ khakis/ greens sat in the washer for a while (okay, two days) before needing to be re-washed and moved to the dryer, you’ll understand it was less about the marginal job than it was about the intention.
Clearly.
(Right?)
So, once he was back to himself and the following conversation occurred, well – it begged to be posted.
Spin: “Did you do laundry today?”
Me: (hesitating) “Ahhhh……?”
Spin: “I want your answer to be ‘No’.”
Me: “What? Why?”
Spin: “Because it is so much easier on me to do the laundry from start to finish on my own, than it is to try to pick up in the middle of wherever you have forgotten to complete what you started.”
Nice.
I feel so under-appreciated incompetent.

My hubby and I are both scatter-brained about the laundry. It’s hit or miss around our house.

I’m quite jealous right now. I wish Beau wanted to do the laundry. And, I absolutely would not allow him to wash any of my clothes.
FYI: My family has not clean white socks right now and I’m blogging. Just sayin’.

Oh, I have so enjoyed your Christmassing banter…and let me relate this one to ya. Today, NOVEMBER 14th…at the mall…SANTA. Freaking. CLAUS. Yip- you read it right. And it didn’t look like it was his first day either. What is the world coming to! C’mon. Give turkeys a chance.

Righ at this very moment I have stacks of laundry folded on my couch, bed, ironing board, kitchen table, and kitchen counter.
And it will probably still be hangin’ out there tomorrow. talk about getting sidetracked!
not even kidding.

My word you are a spoiled woman.
Lucky Duck.
At least you have the excuse of randomly doing the laundry. I do our laundry regularly and I still manage to leave a load in the washing machine for a day or two at least a once a month. Also, I *may* sometimes put stuff in the dryer but not start the machine—although, I think the dryer’s start button is defective.
At first I thought I stumbled upon my own personal journal or something! Because the situation could be replayed word-for-word at my house. I’m with you — I just don’t think about the laundry much. Maybe because I don’t get my clothes so filthy as soon as I wear them???
But I DO notice my baby’s laundry when I find that all the outfits have carrot chunks or yogurt stains or the knees are dirty from crawling on my immaculate floor. nice.
Wow! I could have written this post myself. Nice to know we’re not the only ones…

I’m lucky enough to have a husband who does most of the laundry. I do some … especially since my little girl is potty training now. Oh, who am I kidding – I’m doing a LOT right now (compared to how much I normally do….). Yes, sometimes he gets sidetracked, but at least he remembers to close the lid to the washer. I just looooove going in there in the afternoon and finding the load I meant to wash in the morning…. I’m a laundry dunce – but I make a mean stain remover spray!

BWAHAHAHAHA! I love it
Duck does the laundry in our house too. He got tired of asking me where stuff was and finding out the answer was most likely in our “other dresser” — aka, the washer
He does laundry quite well. How he manages to get it all done in the same day astounds me
But he’d rather do it himself, and not let me help
And that’s AWESOME with me!
