Margarita, Por Favor

The view from our vacation.  Would YOU want to leave?!  You now clearly understand my certifiable depression, no?

cancun-mexico-054

The view from our hotel. Looking north you can just barely see Isla Mujeres. Six trips to Cancun and I still haven’t been there.  I can’t be bothered to get off my back end and give up a days worth of rays for something I can read a book or watch a documentary about. Duh.

So Kip and Shauna arrive and we’re making introductions.  Spin and I had not yet met Kip in person, so we started with the standard small talk.  How was your flight? Can you believe this weather??  blah blah blah…….. Not five minutes in the sun and Kip says, “Hey Spin.  I’m going to take a dip.  You want to join me?”

They then proceeded to REMOVE THEIR SWIM TRUNKS right down to their…………. matching Speedos!!

I guess there was no need to question whether the boys were going to be besties or not.  They bonded right off the bat.  Unfortunately, Shauna and I couldn’t gather our wits about us to get a photo.  We were too busy trying to breath and control the contents of our bladders.

NOT THAT IT WAS ANYTHING YOU’D WANT TO SEE!!!!

She got at least this photo as proof.

The boys indeed hit it off.  They watched the Masters all week at Hooters. (I’m less intimidated about that place now that I can, ahem, hold my own…..) They explored the beaches and snorkeled.  They basically left Shauna and I alone to our drinks and inside jokes.

Of which there are MANY. So many that we needed a secretary, MARCY.

My personal favorite was interpreting for the Universe.  The margaritas were so outstanding it only took one to get us well on our way to channeling the desires of the Universe. Although, now that the buzz is gone, I’m having some trouble recalling what was so hysterical about it. Hmmmmm.

I DO remember dislocating my shoulder from laughing so hard propped up on my elbows.  I’m not sure who was more upset. Me, because of the excruciating and paralyzing pain – or Shauna, for fear of needing a poolboy to come help flip me over.

I ended up needing to slam my shoulder into a palm tree to pop it back into place.

No, I didn’t.  I’m lying.

But it did really hurt.  Really.  A lot.

We loved our poolboy, Jose Luis Estrada. My favorite name for him was Poncho, but he also answered to Julio Iglesias and Juan Enrique…..

Excuse me while I go pour myself one of these.  I think it may be the only way to complete this post. Dang it all, where is Jose Luis when you need him?!

(Screech! No margarita mix in the house?!  And I’m not a tequila shot kind of girl.  Are you? (shudder))

Oh, Poncho.  I neeeeed you.

Oh well, chardonnay it is.

We went out a few times at night, but being 38 has a way of making you feel, well……. 38.

Still we ventured out.  We only took the city bus once.

Kip and Shauna made the most of the back of the bus.

Sheesh.  We cannot take them ANYWHERE.

Lastly, I must tell you about the BEST read of my life. I can’t believe none of y’all loved me enough to tell me about this book.  Or Chelsea Handler.  Hellloooooo?

chelsea_reivse1

I must also warn you that it is slightly off color in parts – there are even parts that are better left unread. And it may take a few chapters to start to “get” Chelsea’s humor…. although, it really didn’t take me long.  I guess I’m just not right in some ways.  I loved it! LOVED it. Laughed out loud. Was sad when it was over. Wanted more.

It was almost as entertaining to watch Shauna laugh out loud through the entire thing.

I’m not as impressed with her show, “Chelsea Lately” – but maybe she needs to keep growing on me…..

The book though?  I might have to read it again.  The good parts, that is.

I also enjoyed Sophie Kinsella’s Can You Keep A Secret? It must have been a sub-conscious thang that there was a KEY on the front.

Hello? Because I like to tell people my tattoo is the key to all my secrets.

Anyway.  Yummy little read.  I recommend it for a mindless little escape.  Of which I am a fan when I am in Mexico.

Okay. That’s all I can take. It was wonderful.

More than wonderful.

It was Heaven.

The next Society gathering may just need to be in Cancun.

Just sayin’….

Yes, I realize these are all Shauna’s pictures….. you know what to do about that right? Where to go?

That’s what I thought.

I just finished reading “Can You Keep A Secret” too – whoa, weird, man. And I have a feeling that if you enjoyed Chelsea Handler’s book then I would too…almost bought it, but wasn’t sure. But now, with your stamp of approval, I shall go hunt it down.

Also…I saw your pictures. You guys are all so cute!

Okay listen… so the next time you feel like running off to some paradise-can ya give a girlfriend a call? I need some sun and fun and alcohol and the occasional pool boy (although, in my dreams, my pool boy does not look like your pool boy.)

Glad you had a great time… sorry you are back… but glad you are back… but sorry it sucks to be back… but glad you are back.

Oh your recollection is PERFECT! Perfect! I love that you put our makeout picture on your blog. Perfect.

Remember, the Universe was telling that girl to get a boob job and that her husband was having her baby.
Remember now why it was so funny???

The pics are great. I’ve never been to Mexico, but I want to go now. :-)

Have you seen the Tiffany key necklaces? I think one may match your tat.

I think I’ll get Chelsea’s book, love her humor.
