There's A Reason I Call Him Spin

by Soliloquy on April 27, 2009

Today was a typical Monday.

Monday’s are rarely fun.  Today was no exception.  In fact, it was quite possibly the worst Monday in a long while……

Stink and I were battling a double workload, because of a Friday field trip and afternoon appointment. On top of that, he was exhausted from a physically draining weekend of lacrosse – and even asked to take a nap today. (I cannot confirm that the request wasn’t slightly manipulative…..  Who wouldn’t choose SLEEP over a crapload of school work?!)

You would think that knowing there are only three weeks left of school would make it seem better.  But, notsomuch.  I think it actually makes it feel worse.

I just asked Spin what the worst miles of a marathon are.  He said 14-16 because you feel like you still have so far to go…. so, okay, that would have been the equivalent of mid-January.  And then he said miles 20-23 are tough.  Adrenaline carries you the last few miles.

Yeah.  Not even a HINT of adrenaline in these parts.  I’m feeling every ache and pain as I keep dragging my sorry ass to the end.

Finish well. Finish well. Finish well.

Poor Spin.  Poor guy has to deal with my Monday daily rants.  But he did as he does and spun Godly perspective into my tirade with this:

The end is near…you won’t EVER regret how you poured into him.

It’s hard, hard labor…but the fruits of your labor will be worth it…

Just pray over him…outloud…to yourself…this boy needs the covering of the Lord’s blood over him…daily…hourly. He will be waging spiritual warfare unlike what you and I faced growing up. Pray for him…love him…cherish these waning moments with him as our little boy. He will be our difficult teenager before we know it.

I love that boy…you love that boy.

I do. so. love that boy.

And I do. so. love his daddy.

That was sweet. Brought tears to my eyes and made me run to hug my babies!

And now I’m crying.

But still, thank you Spin. It translates well to my own situation.
