A New Countdown?

by Soliloquy on May 27, 2009

For the last NINE weeks of homeschooling, I had a ticker on my sidebar.

I couldn’t WAIT for summer.

Now?

I’m already considering a ticker to count down the remainder of summer.

I know!

School work was no fun….. but I’m not sure constant bickering between my children is an improvement.

Let’s see what God’s Word has for us today:

“Fools fold their idle hands,
leading them to ruin.”

Ecclesiastes 4:5

Boredom leads to ruin.

I came down hard on them today, told them this was their last warning for the rest of the summer.  I don’t care WHO starts it, both of them will reap the consequences of participating in a fight…. indeed, without any additional “warnings”.

Warnings are over-rated.  They are the equivalent of “counting”.

“You have three chances to cross me.  One down, two to go…..”

And I get to wait to be crossed again before I’ll do anything about it?? What’s with that?!

I’m NOT spending the rest of my summer that way, thank you.

It’s all training, right?  Habits can be broken……

Now if I can just keep my own crap together and not lose it every time I’m frustrated with them………

Habits can be broken……..

Right??

(Which is mostly true…. he would tell you that he takes his job as annoying little brother quite seriously.)

((Sadly though, sometimes all the poor guy has to do is breathe to be considered annoying.))

I’m a little disappointed to hear that I may have many many years of this left. My girls are 6 & 4. I foolishly hoped this might be something they would grow out of.

Our summer doesn’t officially start until tomorrow but my boys have been fighting since the beginning of school and like you I worn out! I think I’m going to copy your “no more warning just smack the crap out of them” thinking. I guess I better get to Target to invest in more wooden spoons or a really big belt!

MINE AREN’T EVEN OUT YET AND I WANT TO SMACK THEM.

Sorry for shouting. Just thinking about all of the fighting is making my blood pressure go through the roof. I don’t know what i’m going to do for 8 weeks.

Just wanted to say that I’m with ya, sister. *sigh*

Liquid medication, girl!

It definitely puts a damper on ‘Summer break”. Break for who??? Certainly not the main referee in the house.

Oh dear. I don’t like to think about this… : ). We have a little friend (or sometimes two) stay with us during the summer and all they do is FIGHT! And as soon as I take them back to their home in the city in August when school is going to start, all they do is cry that they want to be together. No, I am not looking forward to that at all.
