This is a REAL commercial from a REAL furniture store in North Carolina.

Again, just so there is no confusion…..

FOR REAL.

I’m not offended.  I’d have a hard time understanding anyone who might be offended by this…. but still…………I’m pretty much speechless.

Hi my name is Marcy and I am white.

And I like the Red House for all my racially motivated furniture purchases. Did you notice not one Asian in the mix. I bet they don’t sell to ‘that kind’ at the Red House.

Just sayin.

WOW

The Glamorous Lifes last blog post..Just watch it. It is funny.

Hi, my name is **. I am an Italian/German American who uses an Asian name for her anonymous blog. Do you think anyone at the Red House could help me just figure out who I am?

Really? They are serious with that??? May be the owner is looking for a reason to retire – bankruptcy will do that, you know.

Thanks for the laugh.

So do you think that racist people shop at The Red House just so they have deniability? “No, man, I’m not prejudiced. This here coffee table came from The Red House.”

Fellow southern gal here, shaking her head. And wondering what kind of singing career those dudes can have with that commercial as their jumping off point. (Or did they actually jump off somewhere lower, and work their way up to this? Frightening.)

I see Rhett & Link were involved in the making of it, which explains a lot.

It’s hard to believe that’s real. I noticed the fact that there must not be much cultural diversity down there. If someone were to make a commercial like that up here, they’d have to add Oriental people, Indian people, Spanish people, etc., It would end up being a way too complicated commercial.

Self confessions of white people about being white and self confessions of black people about being black. And all done in a red house?
Yeah, I don’t get it either.

What the hell? Any of these guys helping me at a furniture would creep me out.

Whoever had this brilliant commercial idea should be fired.

I thought it was brilliant.
Why?
It was strange enough to get people talking about it. It’s memorable. They didn’t post but heir commercial is up on your site and being discussed.
Genius.
Strange, but genius.

Umm, I’m Canadian and I’d like to ask the same thing as Fringe girl.
Where’s the Chinese, Syrians, Sikhs, Indians, Arabs, Filipino and Vietnamese? For the record, that ’s a sampling of my street’s ethnic background.
Then I’d be impressed. They’ve just got two races. What’s so special about that?:)

I can’t stop laughing. I was at a training all day today on being culturally sensitive. I wish I would have seen this. I would have whipped out my computer and showed this to all participants : ). This is definitely culturally sensitive : )

well, i live here and i’ve never actually seen this commercial on television. i thought it was pretty funny actually. local commercials never cease to amaze me. i will say to all of the people saying there are no asians in the mix…the south has a black/white issue not an asian issue. in the south, if you see an asian you automatically assume they are genius people that are probably doctors or some other type of professional :) so even though they were saying they sell to “all” people…they are really just addressing black and white folks.
