Yes yes. Everything she said, yes.
If I could have plagiarized Melissa’s post, I would have. But Melissa is from Texas. She has a large family with men named Bubba and Rocco (tee hee!), not to mention a mama and a granny I don’t believe I’d ever cross.
There’d be nothing left of me. Melissa has a deep-fryer and she knows how to use it.
So I’ll “borrow” her theme and write my own post.
There’s so much I don’t say here, which is ironic seeing as I started this here anonymous! blog! to be a place where I could SAY WHAT I JUST HAVE TO SAY.
Gah.
I gotta’ get over that.
Okay, piggybacking on Melissa’s “Reason I Want To Run” and “Reason I Won’t” post, I humbly submit:
Reason I Want To Run:
Because I’m tired of giving and giving and giving and receiving ingratitude/ bad attitude in return.
Reason I Won’t:
Because I am purposed by God to give and give and give in response to the utter belief – the conviction – that first – first! – He loves me. I am pure in heart when I am walking in the only truth that will ever stand. He loves me.
Reason I Want To Run:
Because a lifetime of unmet, stifled needs sacrificed for the unhealthy “benefit” of people around me has worn me down to a trace of who God intended me to be.
Reason I Won’t:
Because Satan doesn’t get to win. Because if Jesus dyin’ for them wasn’t enough, ain’t no sense in me dyin’ for them, too. (Spoken by the great Tony Evans.)
Reason I Want To Run:
Because my trials seem inconsequential compared to those of others.
Reason I Won’t:
Because my trials are! not! inconsequential! Back to where you belong, Satan!
Reason I Want To Run:
Because I think my husband and children deserve better than they will ever have in me. I live in fear and trepidation that I am ruining my kids.
Reason I Won’t:
Because GOD HIMSELF ordained my marriage and my motherhood and He will not be mocked. (Galatians 6:7-8) Because GOD HIMSELF will continue to equip me for the purpose to which I am called, so that I may be pleasing to Him. (Hebrews 13:20-21)
Because a guaranteed way to ruin my kids is to abandon them in any way.
Reason I Want To Run:
“The thief [Satan] comes only to steal and kill and destroy;”
Reason I Won’t:
“I [Jesus] have come that [you] may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:6
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. – Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

Girl, you usually make me laugh rather than cry, but this post? I felt like I could have written the EXACT! SAME! WORDS! Especially the scriptures and the reasons not to run. Thanks for this.

This would definitely be on my list…maybe not worded this same way, but this exact same sentiment. I feel like I am a trace, just a small trace, of who God intended me to be. And seriously, I am tired of being that way!
Thanks for this post.

Thanks for the heads up on Melissa’s post – that was awesome. It is crazy some days and I can totally see hopping in the car and heading to the interstate…
*deep cleansing breaths*
I loved Melissa’s original post and I love your “piggyback”. Your statement that “satan doesn’t get to win” is one of our hard and fast mantras, esp when it comes to trying to raise our children in this God-forsaken culture we live in.
I’d like to share a blogpost my lovely husband wrote in regards to “not running” a few months back… http://justarobotindisguise.blogspot.com/2010/01/hate-satanlove-my-drummer-son.html
